Intrepid Investment Bankers, a leading middle-market investment bank and the advisory arm of global financial group MUFG, announced today the expansion of its industry coverage with the addition of a Charlotte, North Carolina-based team of 14 M&A bankers focused exclusively on the Business & Financial Services sector. The move establishes Intrepid’s newest industry group and doubles the size of the firm’s Charlotte office.

The addition significantly expands Intrepid’s ability to advise founder-owned, family-owned, and private equity-backed businesses operating across a diverse set of service-oriented end markets. The core team has worked together for more than ten years and has advised on transactions across numerous service subsectors, serving clients in the middle-market.

The team is led by James Miller, along with Managing Directors Chris Parides and Ryan Soer, supported by a group of experienced investment bankers who collectively bring deep industry knowledge, extensive transaction experience, and longstanding relationships across the Business & Financial Services landscape. The team’s strategic areas of focus include legal services, insurance services, human capital management, education & training, wealth management, real estate services, specialty consulting, compliance & risk management, accounting services, and specialized financial services.

“The Business & Financial Services sector represents a significant portion of the U.S. economy, and we’ve spent years looking for the right team to expand Intrepid’s presence in this market,” said Ed Bagdasarian, Chief Executive Officer of Intrepid Investment Bankers. “Because our culture is one of our greatest differentiators, we are highly selective in who joins the firm. Finding a 14-banker team with the caliber, experience, and cultural alignment that James and his colleagues bring was a rare opportunity. The relationship and trust built over many years between members of our firms, which includes Charlotte-based Intrepid Managing Director Rory Dineen having spent nearly a decade working with this team, played an important role in bringing this partnership together. James and his team have advised on many notable transactions across the business and financial services landscape, and we believe the sector is well positioned to benefit from long-term trends, including outsourcing, specialization, and the increasing impact of AI.”

“We are excited to join Intrepid and launch the firm’s dedicated Business & Financial Services practice,” said James Miller. “Intrepid has built a highly differentiated middle-market platform, combining deep industry expertise, a collaborative culture, and outstanding client service. Furthermore, they have built a truly unique specialty advisory culture on the global platform of their parent, MUFG, one of the top ten financial institutions in the world. We see a significant opportunity to further build a premier Business & Financial Services practice, expand the firm’s presence in Charlotte, and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients across a broad range of sectors.”

The expansion continues a period of significant growth for Intrepid, which has invested in both new industry verticals and geographic expansion to meet increasing client demand for specialized advisory services. The addition of the Business & Financial Services group strengthens the firm’s sector coverage capabilities while further establishing Charlotte as an important hub for Intrepid’s future growth.

“Charlotte continues to be a strategic market for our firm,” added Ed Bagdasarian. “This expansion represents another important milestone in Intrepid’s growth. We are committed to investing in exceptional talent and building the industry expertise needed to support our clients’ evolving needs.”
