Strategic Hire Marks Major Commitment to Expanding Sector Coverage
Intrepid Investment Bankers, a leading middle-market investment bank and the advisory arm of global financial group MUFG, announced today that Daniel Gossels has joined the firm as Managing Director and Head of Media & Entertainment. Gossels’ appointment marks a significant strategic investment by Intrepid to expand its coverage of the media sector and reflects the firm’s commitment to building a market-leading advisory platform in high growth verticals. Gossels will be based in Intrepid’s New York City office.
With more than 25 years of experience in investment banking, Gossels brings a deep understanding of the rapidly evolving media landscape and an outstanding track record of advising innovative growth companies at the intersection of media and technology. He is widely recognized as an industry thought leader and has extensive relationships with the most active and relevant strategic buyers and investors across the media and technology landscapes. Gossels joins Intrepid from Houlihan Lokey, where he served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Digital Media within the firm’s Technology Group.
Daniel’s decision to join our team is a major milestone for Intrepid,” said Ed Bagdasarian, CEO of Intrepid. “We’ve long recognized the opportunity in media and entertainment, a sector where we've completed some high-profile transactions and where our parent company has built a significant lending franchise. Daniel brings the senior-level expertise and track record to help us scale our practice significantly. His experience, relationships, and vision align perfectly with our strategy of building leading practices in high-growth sectors.”
The Media & Entertainment practice will provide M&A and capital-raising advisory services tailored to the unique needs of businesses across the industry. Building on Intrepid’s existing advisory expertise in media and entertainment, the group will expand into several new verticals, including sports and sports tech, streaming video/OTT, digital audio and music, video games, and creator tech.
The practice will benefit from Intrepid’s deep expertise in M&A, capital advisory, special situations, buy-side search capabilities, as well as its strong relationships with private equity investors. Uniquely, Intrepid also has access to the balance sheet and a wide range of capabilities of its parent company, including debt capital markets and other capital solutions, supported by a vast network of global relationships.
“I’m thrilled to join Intrepid and lead the firm’s Media & Entertainment Group, and to help expand the firm’s coverage in this dynamic industry, which is going through a period of extraordinary innovation, disruption, and transformation,” said Gossels. “This is a firm with an exceptional reputation and a powerful platform, one that combines deep sector expertise with the global reach and financing capabilities of MUFG. I look forward to working with my colleagues across Intrepid and MUFG to build an industry-leading media and entertainment practice in the middle market.”
