Additional Job Description
Intrepid Investment Bankers is seeking to hire a Buy-side Analyst to augment its buy-side efforts and Buy-side advisory practice in the Los Angeles office. The position will report directly to the Director of the Buy-side Advisory Team.   Responsibilities The Buy-side Analyst will support Intrepid bankers by qualifying potential targets through qualitative research; utilizing publicly available information as well as proprietary information services leveraged by Intrepid. Specifically, the primary function of the Buy-side Analyst is to understand the criteria (products, markets, sales channel, etc.) that desirable target companies for a given strategy will have and identifying those that best align with the criteria provided. The successful Buy-side Analyst will be detail-oriented, excellent at multi-tasking, and have a desire to learn about multiple industries as well as the strategies deployed by private equity groups and strategic acquirers to execute on value-creation strategies.   Buy-side Analyst will be exposed to both buy-side and sell-side strategies at a middle-market focused investment bank. Responsibilities for the position may include assisting in the design and preparation of marketing, client and deal specific materials and reports for each project. Previous finance experience is not necessary as most research is qualitative in nature.   Qualifications

  • Developing valuation analyses and models (projections, LBO, DCF, public comparables, historical M&A transactions, etc.)
  • Preparing comprehensive pitchbooks, information memoranda, management presentations and marketing materials
  • Compiling prospective acquirer lists and contacting acquirers
  • Performing key steps in the sale execution process
  • Supporting senior bankers in establishing relationships and maintaining direct contact with current and prospective clients
  • Interacting with senior bankers to help build the firm (training, recruiting, mentoring, etc.)
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of sellside M&A advisory and investment banking experience
  • Outstanding academic credentials from a top tier school
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, process oriented, and strong attention to details
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Highly proficient financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Proactive, results oriented, can-do attitude, team player
The typical base pay range for this role is between $130,000 - $130,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. Responsibilities Managing Directors are an important part of Intrepid deal teams, working closely with junior bankers and clients.  Managing Directors are involved in all phases of origination and execution including:
  • Building relationships with referral sources and business owners
  • Identifying, qualifying, and generating new prospect leads
  • Managing client relationships and overseeing all client and counter-party communication
  • Leading a specific practice area and developing thought leadership in target sectors
  • Overseeing the creation of financial models and transaction collateral
  • Overseeing all key steps in the execution process and leading all negotiations and strategy development
  • Assisting other bankers in firm building activities (training, recruiting, mentoring, etc.)
Qualifications
  • 10-plus years of experience in sell-side M&A advisory
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare industry M&A
  • Fundamental understanding of the healthcare industry with some specific sector expertise
  • Outstanding academic credentials from a top tier school
  • Team player willing to take an integral role in Intrepid's growth
  • Ability to run and motivate transaction teams and lead “from the trenches”
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Highly proficient financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Significant level of maturity and the ability to work as part of a small team
  • Self-starter willing to work in an entrepreneurial, demanding, and fast paced environment
  • Ability to engage with prospects and intermediaries, develop relationships, and work seamlessly as a bridge for introducing other senior bankers into these relationships
  • Excellent computer, presentation drafting and organizational skills
  • Ability to work comfortably in an unstructured environment
  • Proactive attitude accustomed to taking initiative and solving problems
